Hi, it?s me. Suppose I better fill ya in.
I was born in the Sale Base Hospital back before mobile phones were around. During my formative years I lived with my parents and 2 brothers on a rolling pastoral sheep property. It was a privileged life owning both a commodore VIC-20 and a Commodore 64 at the same time. 2 computer homes were unheard of in those days. We were kind of a big thing.
I went to Uni in Ballarat, became a school teacher in Melbourne and after 6 years i quit. Why quit? One word.....Rooooccccckkkkk!!!!!!!
Much to my mother?s disgust and my bank managers horror I decided to pursue a career in music. I slogged it out trying to pay the bills with my cover band gigs and keep it real with my respective original outfits Spoondog and Boneseed....never heard of them? Check the bargain bin in JB HI FI Doncaster. I will be brief in detail of this era as it?s really not too interesting and I can?t remember a whole lot. Beer 1 ? Brain cells 0.
Suffice to say 2005 rolled around and I decided I?d had enough of having mindless fun in the big smoke. I packed my girl and my guitar into the truck and headed north. For the next 2 years I travelled the continent of Oz, singing songs, seeing the sights and slowly working on my act.
In 2007 I hit Perth and instantly fell in love with the sleepy town and the good folk who inhabit it. I now call it my home. I play most nights of the week pumping out a mix of originals and covers. I hear the purist saying ?why you wasting your time with singing covers?? Well I want to eat caviar, drive new cars and not have my phone cut off....all without having to work a day job. It makes sense to me. (By the way I hate caviar)
As 2009 rolls around my stage show is completely different to the chump sitting on a stool in Melbourne with a guitar in his hands. I sing with my throat, play guitar with my hands, blow the didge with my lips and lay beats with my feet....all at the same time. Chuck in a few other nifty gadgets and you got one guy sounding like three, with not a backing track to be seen.
I love what I am doing right now. I look forward to every night that i play and the challenge that it presents to keep improving. Music is my job and my passion. How lucky I am to be able to say those two words in the same sentence.
On the 23rd of January 2009 I set my gear up in Soundbaker Studio?s and pressed record. My new EP ? Listen, is me playing live with some tasty lead guitar work from my good mate Neil Colliss. It is the beginning of a new musical journey for me. I hope you can come along for the ride....Fark that sounded cheesy. Rock on!!!!!
